The black version of the Samsung Galaxy S II recieved a perfect score in our Tech Digest review, We doubt this new shade will be any less great.

The handset was tipped to be revealed today alongside the long-awaited Samsung Nexus Prime according to the source, but as a mark of respect the Google/Samsung joint show was postponed following the passing of Steve Jobs.

Design wise, the handset is expected to be even thinner than the S2, with tapered edges.

The slide, showing the evolution of the Galaxy handset range, features a quick run-down of what to expect from any possible S3 handset. The Android device is listed as having a 1.8GHz dual-core processor (no quad-core yet!) 2GB of RAM, a 12MP camera and 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display that would be a sizeable improvement over its predecessor's already-stellar 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen.

First details of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have leaked overnight, following the release of a spyshot of a slide said to be from a Samsung Mobile Solutions conference.

Jumping back to the first Galaxy S handset, it's proved a successful mobile in its own right, having now hit 24 million units sold since its release back in June 2010.

That total now puts the Galaxy S3 tied with the lifetime sales total of the Galaxy S2 handset, and with sales still going strong its now on course to become Samsung's most successful smartphone ever. In fact, the S3 sold twice as fast as the Galaxy S2 did during its first five months in stores.

According to Samsung, there have now been over 40 million Samsung Galaxy S3 sales, with the smartphone seeing a steep spike in sales over the Christmas period since last hearing of 30 million sales back in November.

Samsung's mega-popular Galaxy S smartphone range has hit another massive milestone, with the line now able to boast over 100 million sales to date.
